Our success in achieving our Health & Safety objectives depends on our OHSAS 18001:1999 accredited Health & Safety Management System being integral to the way we do business. This allows the organization to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and improve overall performance. We recognize the potential hazards that can arise from working with wind turbine generators, and because we value our employees we take a proactive approach to the H&S risks created by our activities. This safety culture is led from the highest level in the organization to ensure that it permeates through every stage of our work.

At B9, the HSE orientation is the most important preventative training any new employee will receive. Every employee is trained in a culture of competence, adherence to procedures for safe working and safety observation to allow them to work with proper regard for the health and safety of themselves and others. All offices and project sites establish and implement rigorous H&S policies and standards consistent with B9’s H&S policy and, as necessary, to at least comply with and where possible exceed local statutory requirements.

We employ a comprehensive incident reporting system to provide management with ‘real time’ information on problem operations, issues impacting H&S performance and compliance, program deficiencies, as well as program successes. In this way we are continually optimizing our performance. The H&S implications of work performed by third parties is also considered – rigorous procedures are in place for the selection and monitoring of contractors and suppliers and for the supply of information to those parties, to allow them to implement applicable H&S principles and promote the health and safety of their employees.

By assigning responsibility for all aspects of the program, continuously reviewing the program to identify potential areas of improvement, and ensuring a thorough evaluation of all incidents we strive to reduce risks to the lowest practical levels. Our focus on H&S performance protects lives and property, reduces insurance costs, averts liability claims, affects profits, and enhances each customer’s image.
