Tunes Plateau is an area of ocean 5-10km off the north coast of Northern Ireland. B9 Energy Offshore, in conjunction with Renewable Energy Systems, is carrying out a feasibility study to determine the optimum size and location of a wind farm in this area.

The study will assess the feasibility of a nominal wind farm comprising between 50 and 85 wind turbines which will be capable of producing 150 to 250 MW of electricity. The wind farm will be connected to the power grid via buried cables from the turbines to a sub-station on the shore.

As part of the study B9 Offshore will assess the impacts of the project on shipping navigation and fishing, the physical environment and visually on the land and seascape. A public information program is running to keep stakeholders informed of the progress of the studies and to collect views and concerns relating to the proposed project.
