Converting the energy of ocean waves to useful power is a formidable engineering challenge but the rewards for success are also immense. Wave and tidal power have huge potential to supply a significant proportion of the world’s future energy needs.

However it is essential that we move from the research and development phase into commercial application. B9 Energy’s extensive experience with the wind industry gives us strategic access to the field, and our goal is to become the leading provider of services to the wet renewable industry.

To date only a few technologies have progressed as far as full-scale deployment and testing. B9 Energy is working with some of these UK and Irish companies to support their endeavours and help to develop the technologies which will enable the renewable power industry to operate in a hostile marine environment.

The process will involve everything from creating equipment which will operate reliably, to solving the problems of how power engineers will carry out maintenance at sea.
